Learn the process of pottery on the wheel
If you’ve wanted to learn how to make your own pottery, we have an awesome three week beginners and Intermediate pottery course in Sydney we’d love you to join!
We run each of our classes for 2hrs to allow for maximum practice and experience.
This beginners Pottery Experience is made up of three classes over three weeks.
Schedule
• Saturday - 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Our lifestyle, art and craft studio in Cammeray, Sydney provides a relaxed creative space for our pottery workshop. With a maximum of only eight students per class, you’ll be given plenty of individual attention so you can learn the basics much quicker.
When your hands are covered in clay, you need to focus on the moment which brings a mindfulness approach. The small-size class format will introduce you to the basics of wheel-thrown pottery, decoration and glazing. If you have always wanted to give pottery a go, or reconnect with a past interest, then this short three-week workshop might be just what you are looking for.
Week 1 (2 hours)
- Wheel throwing & Clay prep: Learn how to prepare and wedge clay, centre it on the wheel, and begin shaping your pot. This session focuses on the foundations of wheel throwing and building confidence with the process.
Week 2 (2 hours)
- Trimming: Return to your dried pieces to learn how to trim and refine their shape. You'll create clean lines, add foot rings, and elevate your work from rough form to polished pieces.
Week 3 (2 hours)
- Glazing& Finishing: Bring your creations to life with colour and texture. In this final session, you'll learn glazing techniques and choose finishes to make your pieces truly unique, ready for their final firing.
After the course, the ceramic pieces need to be glaze fired in a kiln, this makes the ceramics functional and usable. Once the pieces are fired you will be contacted when your (Glazed, fired & functional) pieces are ready to be picked up from our studio.
We only have eight students per class, to ensure plenty of individual attention.
